Delta County commissioners have approved the construction of the Garnet Mesa solar farm project, overturning a previous decision. The project, proposed by the Delta-Montrose Electric Association and Guzman Energy, will be located on approximately 472 acres of land and will feature an 80-megawatt solar energy generating facility. Concerns were raised by some community members regarding the use of agricultural land, interference with air land strips, property values, and potential health risks, but the commissioners ultimately approved the project after determining that all recommended conditions had been met.
